The Redlands Community Hospital will be hosting its 32nd Annual Run Through Redlands. The race will include 5K, 10K and half-marathon distances. Last year winners included: Justin Patananan, 10K, with a time of 35:16; Isiah Ramirez, 5K, with a time of 16:55; and Gray Mavhera, half-marathon, with a time of 1:18:47. Open to walkers and runners, Better Life Fitness (BLF) is providing free training for the Run Through Redlands 5K and 10K races slated for Sunday, March 8. Susan Keith, resident of Redlands, says, “Last year I participated in the free Better Life Fitness training for the Run Through Redlands. It was a lot of fun and I made new friends. The training routes were tailored so that both runners and walkers could participate and make good progress, which helped me exceed my goal, and I look forward to participating again this year!” Training will take place every Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. beginning Jan. 28 through March 4. Training homework will be supplied in order to get you ready for the event. BLF meets at Redlands SDA Church parking lot on Brookside Avenue and Buena Vista Street for a quick warm up prior to that week’s training. Strollers are welcome. “It was a wonderful experience for those who participated last year,” said Ashleigh Benavides, owner of Better Life Fitness. Redlands resident Terri Nelson said, “I’d been learning to run on my own but having the 5K training with Better Life Fitness helped me to reach my goal of running my first race. The camaraderie of the others, warming up and cooling down together, the coaching of Ashleigh and the accountability of meeting each week and sharing our progress helped this 54 year old run for the first time in 34 years! I’m looking forward to training again this year with BLF so I can once again enjoy the Run Through Redlands.” For more information, please find this article at www.redlandscitynews.com.
