A 55-year-old San Bernardino man was killed when he was struck by two vehicles while riding a motorized bicycle on Alabama Street north of Pioneer Street shortly before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29.

The victim was struck by a passenger vehicle traveling south on Alabama, driven by a 20-year-old Highland man, who left the scene of the accident. Two hours later the driver reported to Redlands Police that he had been involved in the accident. Police located his 2010 Suburu Impreza a short distance from the accident site.

Minutes after the accident, the victim was lying in the roadway when he was struck by a second car driving south on Alabama. The driver of that vehicle remained on scene until police and paramedics arrived.

The victim was treated by paramedics before being transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The accident is under investigation.

Anyone with information regarding crime or suspicious activity is asked to contact Redlands Police Dispatch at (909) 798-7681 ext. 1.
