Private dinners in amazing Redlands homes, a Skybox at a Lakers game, and an exciting array of trips, including a week in Tuscany and nine days in South Africa, highlight the list of live auction items to be offered when the Redlands Symphony stages its 2014 Gala and Dancing With the Stars Showcase on Saturday, June 7, at Orton Center on the campus of the University of Redlands. “This will be one of the best years in memory for the Gala’s live auction,” says Mary Carruthers, the event’s Chair. “We’ll have four major trips to exotic locations around the world, tickets to sensational arts and sporting events, and several private dinners, including a ‘Chef’s Table’ event presenting the opportunity to see a renowned chef prepare the menu.” Bidders at this year’s auction will have the chance to win: • “Three Perfect Days” in Victoria, Canada, including airfare and a stay at the historic Empress Hotel • A week in Tuscany at a designer-decorated villa which will provide expansive views of the Mediterranean for up to four guests • Nine days traveling throughout South Africa, experiencing natural beauty and exotic wildlife while staying at the exclusive Ezulwini Lodges • Four days at the beautiful Mauna Kea Hotel on the Big Island of Hawaii, including 18 holes of golf for two Several unique dining experiences will be available, as well: • A Crab Feast at the home of Patsy Oppenheim • The Chef’s Table for eight people with Chef Laurent Baillon at the home of Bud and Pam Felkamp • A Mystery Dinner with wine pairing for 12 at the University of Redlands Alumni House, catered by Bon Appetit, presented by the University Other exciting items up for auction include: • A beautiful diamond and gemstone necklace designed and made by Paul Emerson at Emerson & Farrar Jewelers in Redlands • A private Skybox at a Lakers game • Four tickets to the sold-out performance of “The Move Tour” dance extravaganza, starring Dancing With the Stars favorites Derek Hough and his sister, Julianne Hough, at the Fox Theater in Riverside, including limousine transportation and a restaurant gift card Auction items are subject to certain restrictions and are subject to change. The evening will also include cocktails, dinner, and a silent auction featuring more than 200 items ranging from hotel stays and premium wines to dinners at local restaurants and exotic gift items. Local Stars to Dance Once again this year, five local “stars” will take to the dance floor to showcase their skills. This year’s dancers include Dr. Bob Bourne, MD; Kyle Champion; Al Hernandez; Jackie Meyer; and Margie Orland. Family and friends of the dancers can show their support by voting for them. Each vote costs $1, and all of the proceeds support the Symphony’s music education programs for local children and the orchestra’s concert season. Tickets to the Gala are $125 per person or $150 per person for premium seating adjacent to the dance floor. Tickets may be reserved until May 27 by calling the Symphony office at (909) 748-8018. Supporters don’t have to attend the Gala to vote for their favorite dancer—votes may be cast online at www.redlandssymphony.com/gala or by calling the Symphony office.
