LifeStream Awards Volunteers in National Volunteer Week

LifeStream blood bank volunteers received Presidential pins for service during 2014 and the Shining Star as “Rookies of the Year” on April 22 at LifeStream’s San Bernardino Donor Center, and April 23 at the Ontario Donor Center. National Volunteer Week, established in 1974, was April 12 through 18. Award recipients included: Gold Presidential Pin (500 hours or more of service) • Cassandra Rodriguez, San Bernardino • Eileen Garcia, San Bernardino • Chloe Evans, Beaumont Silver Presidential Pin (250 to 499 hours of service) • Rhina Ramos, Bloomingto • Christopher Hayes, Redlands • Halina Youssef, Fontana • Cynthia Hempy, Chino • Danielle Rice, Rancho Cucamonga Bronze Presidential Pin (100 to 249 hours of service) • Ashley Russell, Moreno Valley • Jennifer Boyer, San Bernardino • Mariam Martikian, Fontana • Richard Contreras, Highland • Caroline Gifford, Ontario • Eunice Aynes, Ontario • Kelsey Harper, Rancho Cucamonga • Peggy Matticks, Covina Shining Star for Rookies of the Year: • Ashley Russell, Moreno Valley • Carol McGivern, Redlands • Daniel McGlocklin, San Bernardino • Halina Youssef, Fontana • Juan Montes, Rancho Cucamonga • Stephen Young, Riverside “We’re very proud of our dedicated volunteers, who contribute so much to the LifeStream mission,” said Pat Schindler, LifeStream’s volunteer services manager. “It was a pleasure to host and honor them for all they do for our community. Our volunteers assist donors in the canteen following their life-giving deeds, transport needed blood products to hospital partners, represent LifeStream at community events, register community members to the national marrow registry program, and more.”
