On Monday, Dec. 5, Senator Mike Morrell took the oath of office at the State Capitol to continue representing the people of the 23rd Senate District which includes Loma Linda, Redlands and San Bernardino, among other areas. "As I am sworn in, I want to thank voters for placing their confidence in me to continue representing them in Sacramento," Morrell said. "I'm honored to have the opportunity to advocate for the citizens of the 23rd Senate District as we work to make government more effective and efficient and hold it accountable to the people. Morrell said the state confronts many challenges as many people still have friends, family and neighbors who are struggling. "Roads continue to deteriorate, despite having some of the highest taxes in the country," Morrell said. "Concerns about crime are growing. At the same time, debt and unfunded pension liabilities threaten the financial security of future generations. Going into this next legislative session and a new chapter in our nation's history, it is now time to solve these problems head on. Our duty is to leave our children and their children the same chances that we had to succeed." As a representative of the 23rd State Senate District, Morrell is an advocate for portions of Riverside, San Bernardino and Los Angeles Counties. Morrell will be serving his second term after winning the general election against his opponent, Ronald O'Donnell.
