For many it is an air show. To others, it is a chance to sample beer from over 20 breweries at a one-of-a-kind beer festival. And still to some, a new laid-back Sunday of beach chairs, surf/ska/punk music and Orange Wheat mimosas will be the draw. And do not forget over 20 food vendors all weekend and a Kids Zone to keep everybody in the family entertained.
No matter how you plan to enjoy the party that is the Hangar 24 AirFest & 10th Anniversary Celebration on May 19-20 at the Redlands Municipal Airport, the time to solidify those plans has arrived.
The opening day on Saturday, May 19 will have all the earmarks of Hangar 24 AirFests of the past, but with more to enjoy than ever. Hangar 24 is proud to welcome headliner aviation acts like the United State Air Force’s F-16 Viper Demo Team out of South Carolina, and the Royal Canadian Air Force’s CF-18 Demo Team. New this year will be a Beer Festival, with access included in your AirFest ticket. At least 20 local and regional breweries are scheduled to take part, including early commitments from Ritual, Sierra Nevada, Beachwood, Kern River and Pizza Port. Music on May 19 will be highlighted by the “Fooz Fighters,” a “Foo Fighters” tribute band.
The new second day on Sunday, May 20, dubbed “The Hangar 24 Spin Recovery Party,” will offer a casual atmosphere, with champagne pours in addition to Hangar 24 offerings. Live music will come from self-described “beach rock reggae” artists “Wheeland Brothers,” as well as “40 oz. to Freedom,” a “Sublime” tribute band. Both bands will play while aviation acts are performing feats of daring in the skies above. Announcer Jon “Huggy” Huggins, the voice of Hangar 24, will return to the microphone for the headline acts from the USAF and the Royal Canadian Air Force.
In addition to the early-bird special, single-day tickets are as low as $15 (Sunday, May 20) and $20 (Saturday, May 19) for presale general admission. A regular-priced two-day pass will be $30. Military members will be admitted for $10 either day, with kids’ tickets priced at $5. VIP tickets (food and beer included in a shaded seating area) are $175 for Saturday and $125 for Sunday. Upgraded Seating (a shaded table for six on the flight line) is $300 for Saturday and $250 for Sunday.
Join us as Hangar 24 celebrates one decade in operation. There will be dozens of different Hangar 24 beers being poured both days, as well as the 10th Anniversary Beer, currently in development. Last year’s 9th Anniversary Beer was a Hazy IPA that made its debut to rave reviews.
