Registration Under Way for Summer Fall at Local Childrens Center

First Lutheran Children’s Center, 1207 W. Cypress Ave., is now enrolling students for its “Summer Fun Program” and the 2014-15 school year. The “Summer Fun Program” will be conducted three days a week from 9 a.m. to noon starting June 17 and continuing through July 10. The fourth week, July 8-10, will coincide with the First Lutheran Church Summer Day Camp for children in grades Kindergarten through sixth grade. “Our summer program is designed for children who are at least three years old, well potty-trained and ready to function in a group, including children who are ready to enter kindergarten in August,” said FLCC Director Lu Cook. Registration ranges from $25 for one week to $55 for the entire four-week program. Tuition is $80 per week. A second child in the family who attends receives a 10 percent discount. Activities include water play, science, “messy” play and special visitors. FLCC is accepting enrollment for the regular school year for children ages 3 to 5. Parents may enroll their child for two days, three days or five days. Hours for the pre-school are 9 a.m. to noon. A “Gift of Time” Pre-Kindergarten is offered five days a week. Children eligible for that program must turn five by March 31, 2015. Extended care is offered from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. weekdays and a “Stay and Play” program is available Monday through Thursday from noon to 3 p.m. “Our mission is to act as an outreach of First Lutheran Church by providing a loving, safe Christian environment where families will find community and children will have the opportunity for social, intellectual, physical, spiritual and emotional development,” Cook said. FLCC is a self-supporting, non-profit agency of First Lutheran Church and is financed by tuition receipts. Registration fee is $98 plus $90 for half of the program’s curriculum fee for a total registration of $188 due at the time of enrollment. Annual tuition is based on the number of days the children is enrolled per week.
