A burning load of trash inside a trash collection truck had Redlands firefighters responding to Nevada Street on March 10. A city trash truck was forced to eject its solid waste load on Nevada Street after noticing a burning load shortly before 1:30 p.m. that afternoon. According to a release issued by the city, the driver ejected the burning trash onto the roadway to prevent damage to the truck. The blaze was extinguished in about two hours and city crews cleaned the street, the release states. There was no damage to the truck aside from a burn mark, according to the release, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
