REDLANDS >> Crafton Hills College is hosting The Herbivore Festival, a celebration of plant-based living, on Sunday, May 1st from noon to 6 p.m. This free, non-profit event will include lectures, cooking demonstrations, performances, workshops, fitness activities, vendors, food, activities for kids and more.
Dr. Hans Diehl, Founder of the Lifestyle Medicine Institute in Loma Linda, will present the keynote lecture, "Reversing Diabetes Without Drugs or Injections" at 2 p.m. Other stimulating topics include powering up with plant strong meals, the environment and sustainability, and Ayurveda and the vegan diet.
“Many people have heard of the benefits of a plant-based diet but just don’t know where to start. Well, here it is..the place to start. Come try the food, see how to prepare it, listen to tips and techniques on how to make the switch successfully, shop the cruelty-free, environmentally friendly products and meet other people who can help support you in your journey to health,” says, Dr. Colleen Hinds, festival coordinator and assistant professor of kinesiology and health.
Although there will be plenty of lectures and cooking demonstrations throughout the day, the festival isn’t only focused on diet. There will also be:
• Workshops for the Body: Yoga, Zumba, Pilates, Mommy and Me
• Music: Harpist Jennifer Sparks and Dan McNay
• Performance: American Acrobats, a professional performance troupe and Ruby Red Belly Dancing
• Workshops for the Mind: meditation, energy balancing
• Henna art, face painting, and more
• And shopping with over 120 vendors
Crafton Hills College is located at 11711 Sand Canyon Road in Yucaipa. There will be no parking charge.
