A fire in a women’s restroom forced the brief evacuation of several City Hall offices Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The fire in a restroom in the Quality of Life building at Redlands City Hall, 35 Cajon St., was reported at about 11:30 a.m. that day. The fire forced the evacuation of the building for about 30 minutes. In addition to Quality of Life, the building also houses the Finance Department and IT offices as well as the City employees’ credit union.
An employee put out the fire with a fire extinguisher prior to arrival of the Fire Department. Employees were kept out of the building while firefighters cleared the building of smoke and ensured that it was safe to return. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
