Jamie Beck, former Career Counselor in the California State University system, will lead an interactive employment workshop at the A.K. Smiley Library on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The workshop is free and open to the public, and will take place from noon through 4 p.m. The workshop will target professionals from recent graduates to mid-career changers, as well as those who were laid off, downsized or are returning to a career after time away from the workforce. The workshop will provide tips and ideas on how to turn the job search process from reactive to proactive, a recent news release issued by the library states. Attendees will learn how to pinpoint their passions and interests and then find careers in related fields, and will learn effective résumé writing and interviewing techniques. Beck has a Master’s Degree in Human Services with an emphasis in Social Systems and a concentration in Family and Work. She has worked for the California Department of Education and First 5 programs in both the public and nonprofit sectors. The A.K. Smiley Library is located at 125 W. Vine St. in Redlands. Those who are interested in attending the workshop may contact Principal Librarian Daniel Slota at 909-798-7565.
