The Business Development Association of the Inland Empire has for the second year in a row selected a Redlands-based charity/501 © (3) The Unforgettables Foundation (TUF) to be a beneficiary of their Sept. 7 Golf Tournament at Tukwet Canyon Course in Beaumont. The near 100-member group of professionals represents a majority of the leading construction, engineering, building industry and electrical contracting companies in the region.
Kay Toliver, who works for Towill Inc. Land Surveying based out of Rancho Cucamonga is on the board of the BDAIE (along with President Allison Hansen) has been a long-time volunteer for The Unforgettables and nominated them.
Kay states that “In the past, we helped a bigger non-profit- but wanted to see our money go farther with a smaller charity. I’d been a long-time and involved volunteer for The Unforgettables, so as the membership chair, I was eager to promote and nominated this cause I love!”
The proceeds are split from golf tournament revenues between TUF, which assists financially strapped and in grief families (well over 200 times a year) with much-needed funeral costs for their child, and Smiles for Seniors based in the Banning Pass. Both causes collect auction items, bring items and get volunteers.
A small capacity cause like TUF, with only one full-time employee, greatly benefits from being the recipient of fundraising events-from golf to galas- that are put on by group, business’, associations, clubs and/or foundations and other such efforts during the year. These fundraiser events that aid victims ages 18 years of age down to 30 weeks of pregnancy include Sons of the American Legion Post Squadron 777 in San Bernardino, Wilson Davis Associates in Riverside, Inland Counties Water Agencies of Fontana, Sun Lakes Charitable Trust in Banning, and Tom Pernice Jr. Charities from Temecula. Being chosen is so helpful to a small non-profit and assist in many cases.
TUF is celebrating 20 years of service to the community and can be found on Facebook and at their website.
