University of Redland's own Associate Professor of History Kathleen Feeley, recently published her newest book called, “When Private Talk Goes Public: Gossip in American History".
On Thursday, Sept. 18, on the University of Redlands campus at the Alumni House, she held a book signing.
Feeley edited the book with an Associate Professor of History, Jennifer Frost from the University of Auckland in New Zealand.
This book, about gossip in American History, ranges from the 1600s to present-time. It consists of twelve different essays from different authors including: Christine Eisel, Mary Beth Norton, Virginia Price, Nancy Isenberg, Erica Ball, Samantha Barbas, Molly Wood, Mary Desjardins, Kimberly Wilmot Voss, Andrea Friedman, Anne Helen Petersen, and Tim Seiber.
Seiber made an appearance at the book signing, and gave brief comments after Feeley's introduction.
It's been almost exactly three years since the idea for this book blossomed.
Feeley shared that she's happy about putting her book out but she also misses it since it's been a major project in her life for so long.
"Its a relief, it's exciting, and a little bit of a let down... it's bittersweet, but more sweet," she said.
Sabrina Jonkhoff, a former student of Feeley's was one to proofread the book; and was even mentioned on the dedication page. "There are very few people called out by name, and she's one of them," Feeley added.
"It was pretty surreal, I've read these people's work before, and now I'm proofreading their work," Jonkhoff said while laughing, "I felt very fortunate to be a part of this process."

Great! The event will be at the Alumni House from 4 to 5:30 so I suggest arriving a bit sooner than 4. I will add Kayla’s name to the RSVP list to make sure the author knows she’s there.
