To honor the nation’s fallen heroes, the University of Redlands on Friday morning, May 17, held a memorial event in honor of the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces and sacrificed their lives in the line of duty in front of the University’s Memorial Chapel. The sound of bagpipes filled the quad area and a field of white crosses with flags was displayed, similar to the views from the Arlington and Riverside National Cemeteries, to kick off the event. U of R freshman Emily Taylor and her family attended the event to memorialize her father, Lt. Cmdr. Keith Taylor, a University of Redlands alumnus Class of ’91, who was killed in the line of duty in January 2005 while serving in Iraq. The Taylor family was joined by many others to honor the memories of their loved ones who gave their lives in service to the nation.
