Training Offered for Businesses that Sell or Serve Alcohol

REDLANDS>> On Thursday, May 25, The Police Department will sponsor a free training for Redlands businesses licensed to sell alcohol and designed to help businesses comply with alcohol laws and reduce sales to customers who are under age or intoxicated.

Training will take place at the Redlands Police Department Annex, 30 Cajon St. Parking is available at the Redlands Mall or the City parking structure on Citrus Avenue between Fifth and Sixth streets.

The Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drugs (LEAD) training is free and recommended for all owners, managers and employees who sell or serve alcohol.

The training, co-sponsored and conducted by the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, includes instruction on state and local laws, owner and employee liability, community standards, checking ID, identifying and refusing sales to minors and 

identifying and refusing sales to intoxicated persons.

The training is free and will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

This LEAD training and work with bar 

operators complements and expands on the ongoing DUI checkpoints, minor decoy operations, saturation patrols and other actions Redlands Police take as part of the Responsible Redlands initiative.

 The Responsible Redlands initiative aims to curb the problems related to binge and underage drinking in Redlands in order to achieve a safer, healthier community. The campaign includes DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols to identify intoxicated drivers, party patrols to enforce the City’s Social Host 

Ordinance, decoy operations to cite businesses and individuals who provide alcohol to underage persons and educational efforts for local businesses that serve alcohol. Responsible Redlands welcomes partnerships with alcohol retailers and establishments that serve alcohol.

To register for the class, visit the ABC website at www.abc.ca.gov, select LEAD, and register for the LEAD training in Redlands.
