Musicians Tune Up, Welcome Newcomers

REDLANDS>> The Redlands Fourth of July Band’s first rehearsal and organizational meeting of 2017 will take place on Sunday, March 26, beginning at 3 p.m. Founded in 1981 by Curtiss B. Allen, the Redlands Fourth of July Band provides music for the Redlands annual Independence Day Celebration. A Redlands tradition, The Sylvan Park and University of Redlands stadium concerts are a much anticipated event. This year, the Fourth of July Band will meet for rehearsal in the Fellowship Hall of of Bethany Reformed Church, at 705 Cajon Street in Redlands. All instrumentalists are welcome to participate. The 4th of July band holds an average of eighty band members. All members are volunteers, and the band charges no fees for membership. "The band is looking forward to another fun and rewarding season of entertaining the holiday crowds with all their popular standard tunes, as well as some fantastic new selections being added to their repertoire," said Director Curtiss Allen, Jr. "All instrumentalists are welcome to participate." Rehearsals will run until roughly 4:30 p.m. on Sundays. Potential new members are encouraged to arrive at the first rehearsal by 2:30 p.m. to complete registration forms. Parking and the entrance to the Fellowship Hall are to the rear of the church.
